37 innocent people suffered death without dignity in London today, and hundreds more were injured in a barbaric yet understandable attack by Michael Moore's Minute Men - retribution for Britain's complicity in Bush's illegal and immoral war on terror. But now is not the time for pointing fingers. In the wake of 9/11, progressives waited a good three minutes before blaming Bush, America, and Western Civilization in general, and we should be every bit as reverent now. Let the people of Great Britain mourn their fallen bretheren in peace. There will be plenty of time to exploit their grief for political gain in the weeks ahead. I'm just as anxious to hear who the 7/7 Widows will endorse for New York Senator as you are, but let's practice a little bit of decorum, shall we? For once, let's rise above political rancor and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our friends across the pond in their hour of need, just as we did when Bush killed Princess Diana.
Where the hell was the Shrub today, anyway? Reading a book about a girl and her haggis to a bunch of Scottish schoolkids while London burned? Why hasn't he called this G-8 farce off? Why isn't he back in the states, answering for his crimes? No doubt he's heading over to Ground Zero UK with a bullhorn and a camera crew as we speak. This should make some great footage for his 2008 campaign commercials.
Without resorting to prayer, let us have a moment of silence and quiet reflection in honor of those who lost their lives today. Perhaps when the dust settles, England can turn to France for guidance through these dark times, as they have for centuries. As Americans, we must be ever vigilant, and work together to protect our own country from extremist right-wing judges who seek to overturn Roe v. Wade and deny a woman her right to choose. But until we repeal Bush's tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of Americans, none of us will be truly safe again.
I pity the British for being dragged, yipping and yelping like the Bush lapdogs they are, into the cruel reality of the religion of peace.
I pity Bubblehead and Hankmeister that I beat them to the first post.

Dude, you folks are sick.

I do dearly hope to see
I can only hope that they haven't forgotten the diplomatic niceties they employed to such effect at Crécy and Agincourt; the French seem to respond so well to such overtures.
I think he loaned it to Tone.

Satire is fine, but you've gone over the line this time. You should pull this story - it is not close to being funny.
Posted by: Lou | July 07, 2005 at 06:55 PM
Lou, I understand why you might feel that way, but Larry here may have found a brilliant way of making liberals/progressives/democrats (or whatever you want to call them) realize how backward their thinking is.
People who are in love with the very terrorists who want them dead need special therapy. And this might be it.
And if you get Larry's satire you'll realize that the joke is not on the British but on those lefty.

Abortion is good, it thins the herd. Unfortunately it's disproportionately thinning the Democratic voting ranks. We better start registering more felons, illegal immigrants, terrorists, pets, and dead people before 2008 are we haven't a chance of getting Hillary in. As we say in the Democratic voting precincts, show your patriotism to vote early and vote often!
Misunderstood Islamic insurgents have their ways of dealing with unwanted human beings that pose threats to their lifestyles, and we progressyves have ours - we're just quicker by going straight to the womb before undesirables are born.
Posted by: Hankmeister | July 07, 2005 at 07:56 PM
FOA,
Are you a troll? I don't get all this talk of leftys on a progressive weblog?
Personally, I think Gaia will be very unhappy with all this bombing. We might expect to see OBL fall on his mountain bike as retribution, much like Gaia has done several times to Shrubya!

"In the wake of 9/11, progressives waited a good three minutes before blaming Bush, America, and Western Civilization in general" - Liberal Larry
Technically speaking, LL, it was really about three days after 9/11 before I heard the first brave progressyve blame American for forcing misunderstood Islamic freedom fighters to destroy the Twin Towers and the Pentagon pending the Iraq War.
This time around it was about three hours. We progressyves are getting a lot better with our reaction times. And maybe when Paris, France or Milan, Italy experiences righteous judgment from Islamic freedom fighters, we can cut the blame game down to about three minutes. That's the beauty of the Internet.
IT'S ALL BU$HITLER'S FAULT! I've always felt that way even when my progressyve grandmother (thank Gaia she and my mother were pro-life) died fifteen years ago. Damn chimpy kkkonservative.

Beerme,
Lib/Progr/Dems might not post comments here very often but I'm sure they are here, watching us quietly...
and feeling doubt slowly, insidiously entering their minds...
It starts with little things like " What if we are wrong and Bush did not cause WWI " and " what if apples do really contain vitamin C and this not part of a conspiracy to make us drive our cars to the supermarket and make us use more fuel ? "

Just as Hitler’s Nazis attacked the innocent civilians of London with V-1 and V-2 terror rockets, so to is King George Dumbya Bu$Hitler to blame for the terror attacks on London today. Shrubya and his little Eichmanns started this whole terror war by hatching their cockamamie plot to blow up the World Trade Center and blame it on the Religion of Peace. Then, in their lust for oil, Chimpy’s Halliburton cronies under Dickhead Cheney launched their illegal unilateral war against Saddam Hussein, who had no weapons of mass destruction. Meanwhile, here in ameriKKKa, the oppressed minority undocumented non-citizens, in constant fear of the PATRIOT act, are unable to stand up for their rights. Now, the brave freedom fighters of Islam have no choice but to lash out against their aggressors, just as GaiaEarthMother Herself lashes out against the hegemonic aggression of white male oppression, which causes the disaster of global warming, through natural disasters like the Sumatra Tsunami—yes, the selected President, by failing to sign the Kyoto protocols, started a chain of events resulting in the tsunami. Bush kills people.

Telling Larry to pull this update would be like telling Stanley Kubrick not to make Dr. Strangelove because international nuclear security is fragile. We NEED this as a tool to satirize and awaken skeptical people to a very serious international problem. I understand that it's heavy stuff but it's extremely effective. And to be fair, I invite all of you to use my death, in the event that I am brutally killed in a terrorist attack, to mock those of us who turn a blind eye to terrorism and subsequently blame those countries involved in preventing it.
No satire in this post, but I felt a need to defend this site. We all feel deeply for these people who have suffered. That's why we come here and cleverly mock those politicians and psychopaths who breed this violence.

But in these troubling times, I think I speak for all of us when I say, "What Would Gaia Do?"
(Or WWGD for short.)

Wow, Humyn, I'm thoroughly impressed by your mastery of the copy and paste functions, not to mention the convincing, eloquent points you/Irish2 make.
You have single-handedly raised Howie's social status in the BB foodchain, which is no small feat.
Posted by: Che Guevarito | July 08, 2005 at 05:01 AM
I'm only sick because Bu$hitler has eviscerated the federal mental health budget and packed the FDA with corporate cronies who make defective flu vaccinactions to inflate the price which makes ca$sh for different Bu$hitler corporate cronies.
Oh, and Karl Rove is the devil, should die, has sex with goats, stole my lunch money, is responsible for 7/7, 9/11, and 666, and is a big stupid-head.
I've feverish now. I'm going to go lie down.
Posted by: Moonchild | July 08, 2005 at 05:28 AM
You're all fuckin feverish. Don't bother getting up.
Waste of web space.
Posted by: moneyman | July 08, 2005 at 05:32 AM
Sadly Larry, I must agree with Humyn Bean.
You should remove this post at once - it is highly insensitive.
Honestly, you're no better than those horrid Brits. How dare they refuse to wallow in panic, even after Katie Couric told us over and over again how awful things were over there! If they had an ounce of sensitivity they'd be be hunkered down, heads firmly between their legs, quaking in fear and kissing their asses goodbye like any sensible Humyn.
But no. Just like The Shrub they think they are free - that they have the right to do as they please.
All they will do is call the wrath of the terrorists down on the rest of us.
Insensitive bastards.

No Dude/Lou/Human, none of the people who write on this site are sick. You want sick? I'll give you sick.
The Sunday after 9/11 when my (ex)pastor told me from the pulpit that the disaster was the result of “fat white men and their remote controls who had ignored the poverty in the mideast and that we were now all reaping the harvest of those seeds”. (True story, I walked out in the middle of the service and never returned.)
Ted Kennedy who declared that the Iraq war was conceived in Crawford, Texas by George W. Bush strictly for political purposes.
John Kerry who was a war hero before he was a traitor. Although I have always thought that Benedict Arnold was better at both.
Markos Moulitsas from the DailyKos who said (concerning the contractors murdered and hung from bridges in Falugia)
"Let the people see what war is like. This isn’t an Xbox game. There are real repercussions to Bush’s folly.
That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries(sic). They aren’t in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them."
Congressman Dick Durban from Ill who compared the hazing like treatment of detainees at Gitmo to the murder of 6,000,000 Jews by Hitler and the murder of 10,000,000+ Russians by Stalin. You know, torture by fooling with air conditioner controls while being forced to listen to Christina Agular and watch a puppet show.
Howard Dean who said, all hell everybody knows what that airhead says.
Michael Moore who spins and lies in all his movies trying to support his socialist political view while raking in MILLIONS.
Ward Churchill who called the people who worked and died in the World Trade Center "little Eichmans".
I can go on and on but there is a word limit. Wait for volume 2.
PS- Anybody else want to pile on?

Remember when Bush caused the 1993 attack on the WTC? Remember when he and his father orchestrated the attacks on the US embassy in Nairobi in 1998? And who could forget when the $hrub caused these brave insurgents to attack the USS Cole in 2000? Why didn't the $hrub do anything then?! This is just more of the same. And don't even try to blame Clinton. He was busy shoving a cigar up some fat girl - he didn't have time to do anything.
Posted by: Bu$hCausedMyGout | July 08, 2005 at 06:28 AM
Actually none of this matters when compared to the hideous torture described by brave gender pioneers like Andrea Dworkin:
With every hydrant she passed, it felt like being raped a thousand times. Every parking meter was like being raped another thousand times. Lamposts, about three hundred times. Despite their inappropriate names, the mailboxes were actually vaginas, so she had no qualms with them until some MAN came along and thrust a letter inside one. Occasionally, she'd watch as a line of men formed to take turns gleefully violating the mailvagina, until a pimp in a mailMAN outfit would came along and start scooping offspring out its brutalized womb.
When I think of her courage, I want to touch myself.

What I think is sick is the murder of 47 million unborn Americans in the name of progressyve "choice" without making accomodations for retro-action abortion for the rest of the unwanted children under the age of 2.
What I think is sick are those people professing intolerance for thousand of years of traditions regarding marriage who now have jumped on the band wagon which advocates same-sex marriage without going the extra mile to accomodate bi-sexuals and their right to be married to another man and woman at the same time, the rights of polygamists, and validating marriages between a persyn and their favorite pet animal.
What I think is sick is Ted Kennedy being hounded for Chappaquidick and he's still just a Senator and George Bush getting a pass on his DUI and he's still President.
What I think is sick is a disproportionate number of minorities getting the death penalthy when more whites should be given the death penalty to make it all fair.
What I think is sick is the KKKhristian kkkonservatives condemning the clerics of the religion of peace (Islam) for its tacit support of terrorism committed in the name of Allah and Mohammed without condemning its own religion for terrorists like Dr. James Dobson, Pat Robertson, and Jerry Falwell who we all know would fly jetliners into holy mosques in Mecca if they thought they could get away with it.
And what I think is really sick is there are actually people like Humyn Bean who aren't willing to honestly look into the mirror to see that it is precisely the stupid and decadent infidels like hym whom Muslim freedom fighters want to separate their heads from their bodies while yelping, "Allah Akbar"!
I guess we have to start writing in crayon for those dunce trolls who come here and can't figure things out.

You're a disgrace to the USA.
Blair backed Bush going into Iraq, and British people are paying with their lives and limbs.
And you all sit here attempting to be "clever".
It's no wonder Bush got back in with assholes like you voting for him.
[And don't bother coming back with some asinine comment about the IRA, because I don't support them.]
